Diflucan (fluconazole) is a prescription antibiotic used to prevent and treat fungus. It is efficient in preventing fungus in patients whose immune system was weakened by certain diseases (AIDS), bone marrow transplants or cancer treatment. This drug is FDA pregnancy category C. It can be harmful to an unborn baby and pass into breast milk, affecting the health or a nursing infant. Make sure you inform your doctor about getting pregnant while taking this medicine to prevent your future baby from being affected.

Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, take this medicine with a full glass of water. If you are using the liquid form shake it well before measuring the exact dosage with a special medicine cup. The liquid form can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, but must not be used after that period. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine and experience unusual thoughts and confusion, seek emergency help. During the treatment you can experience the following mild side effects of Diflucan: dizziness, mild nausea, headache, upset stomach, diarrhea, itching, skin rash, or vomiting. If these effects do not go away on their own and interfere with your everyday life consult your doctor.
